Before you begin:
- Windows XP Professional – Home or Media Center Edition.
- Service Pack 2 Installed. (if you don’t have this, get it here and install it first.)
- IfyouhaveServicePack3,Download http://www.locallanguages.lk/files/SinhalaTamilKit_XP_SP3.exe
- You have log in to an Administrative Account on your computer.
- Testing was done on a English Language Operating System and may no work in other language operating systems.
Step 1
Go to http://www.siyabas.lk click the “Get Sinhala” Link on the top of the Page. you will get forwarded to Sinhala Download Page.Step 2
Click “Windows XP” linkStep 3
Click on http://www.siyabas.lk/files/SinhalaTamilKit_XP.exe Download the Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit for XP File (Make sure to save the file in your Desktop or on a place you can remember.)Step 4
Allow Time for the Sinhala Tamil Unicode to get downloaded.Step 5
Now open the file SinhalaTamilKit_XP.exe by double clicking it.Step 6
Windows may alert you by asking your permission to allow the file to be run, say “Run”Step 7
Installation of Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit will start automatically.Step 8
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Setup will ask if you want to install SinhalaTamin Kit, Say “Yes”Step 9
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Setup will ask you to close any open programs, before you click “OK” make sure you have closed any running programs on your computer.Step 10
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit will automatically copy the files.Step 11
Sinhala Tamil Unicode Kit installation is done, click “OK” and after this Sinhala Enabling Pack form Microsoft will start to install Automatically.Step 12
You will see the Microsoft Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack Setup Wizard Start Automatically, Click “Next” for the Wizard to Start.Step 13
You will see the Microsoft Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack License Agreement, Click “I Agree” and Click “Next”Step 14
Allow Windows XP Sinhala Enabling Pack to install automatically.Step 15
If every thing was successful, you will see a message saying “Completing the Windows XP Sinhalese Enabling Pack Setup Wizard”, Click “Finish” this will automatically restart your computer. Please allow if to restart.Step 16
Once you have restart your computer, click on the “EN” icon you see on your task bar, you will see English, Tamil & Sinhala support is installed and working.
